Illustration for “David’s Journey; A Lost Boy of Sudan” 14.5×12″ Oil Pastel on Lt Brown Pastel Paper

Soccer in South Sudan Illustration WIP

This is for a picture book. A version of Soccer is popular in South Sudan, I can’t imagine playing bare foot!

Grinding Corn Illustration

I wanted to do this one next to practice the heads, because some of the illustrations have many more people on them. I decided to refine the heads more with pastel pencil, which helped tremendously. Oil pastel on light brown pastel paper. 14.5″x12″

David and His Village

Here is the completed illustration for David in Khor Wacow. This was challenging in deciding how to render people from different distances like the one of the walking crowd, but this one has a head shot. This works well, but I think I need to back and lighten the ground in the foreground for the text.
