Summer Fields

6×8″ stretched canvas with gallery edges.

Although I’m happy with the painting, I want to have thicker paint like some of my other works. I did an experiment of leaving a dollop of each for 15 hours prior to adding the paint to my pallette although it was thicker, it was not thick enough to my liking. I will try leaving out longer before adding it. If I can find the right amount of time, it’s just a matter of planning ahead.

Pink Peony

I approached this picture by loading the brush as much as I dare and with the least amount of strokes. Although I did go over the background again to get the textures.
I’m going to experiment with more like these.

Send in the Clouds (Final)

I painted the horizon and foreground. I could ordinarily get the whole painting done in one sitting but more often than not I only have a short window of time.

Send in the Clouds (WIP1)

These clouds were a bit more complexed formation than the clouds I tend to emulate. I needed to add fresh paint to my palette, therefore it wasn’t as thick as the last painting. I need to start opening my palette a couple hours early for the fresh Golden Open Acrylics. Strange isn’t it! Although with the smaller clouds it wasn’t such a bad idea to have thinner paint. 5×7″ canvas board.

Applied some of that thick gooey paint to finish up my painting. Incorporated the use of a palette knife. I want to do that more often. 5×7″ Canvas Board

Ways to Render a Pear 003 – Sennelier Oil Pastel

Starting with the most obvious ways to render a pear, I had to try the real oil pastel too. Although the IPad version was more polished, probably because I haven’t done as much with the IPad painting.

This is an exercising in how many ways can I find to render a pair, starting with some of the most basic. In this case on the IPad using the Art Set Pro App with the oil Pastel tool.

How many ways to render a pair? I’m going to find out. I’ll start with the most basic, a realistically render of a pair in Golden open acrylics.

Palette 004 – Watercolor Travel Kit

image

For my summer travels and Plein Aire, I thought it would be handy to make a my own compact watercolor palette. This was a good tin for me to use because I love dark chocolate!

I flattened out the sculpey in the tin (the lid has a very thin layer), found an object to poke the holes, baked it according to instructions, sprayed a glossy clear coat on the sculpey, and squeezed my favorite colors into the holes.

Inspired by the kit made at http://onegoldenapple.blogspot.com/2011/04/watercolors-to-go.html

“Life is a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get!” Forest Gump is one of my favorite movies, it couldn’t be helped!
