What I Did Last Summer Part 3

Just before I moved, I painted a 6×6” canvas for the BAC Fundraiser.

I went to one last meet up with “The Basement Painters” at the BAC in the newly renovated building. They have a wonderful new workspace with great company.

Here’s where the 6×6 paintings hung. It’s a very successful event.

What I Did Last Summer Part 2

I went an Artist Retreat at Pointer’s Ridge in late June. We painted in Plein Air along the Big Sioux River. 8×10” Acrylic on Canvas Board.

I did a portrait of an old Dutch Elm stump, and had some fun with it! 9×12” Acrylic on Canvas Board.

Here is the quaint little A-frame we stayed in.

Mariemont Plein Air Outing

This weekend I went to my first Cincinnati Paint Out.

The setting was a historic German Town sponsored by the Woman’s Art Club. This group was founded in 1892, originally because the Cincinnati Art Club excluded Woman. Today neither club excludes genders.

I chose to paint at the Mariemont Concourse, which overlooks the Ohio River Valley. I started early in the day, and finished in 3 hours, fortunately before the heat of the afternoon.

It was a great experience!

There were about 60 artists attending, who were friendly and welcoming.

Here I am with my painting that SOLD.

10×20″ Acrylic on Canvas with 1.5″ painted gallery wrap edges.

“What I Did Last Summer” Part 1

This summer I’ve been in transition, moving from South Dakota to the Cincinnati area. I have since completeted the move and I want to recap on my blog what I managed to squeeze in my last summer in South Dakota. This is a painting I did at a Paint Out in Oakwood State Park. Acrylic on a Canvas Panel, 8″x10″.

These are the wonderful people who participated at the Plein Air Outing. I miss you all!

A Pond in Summer

I’m practicing my trees. We will be moving to an area with more hills and trees. Cincinnati here I come! This is why my blog has been quiet, moving is too much work!

Next “Valley at Enemy Creek” WIP01

I want to do another version of “Valley of Enemy Creek” It was one of my best projects and I want to be able to exhibit the work.

I started again with a study because I might as well make some adjustments to the composition, since it doesn’t need to be exactly as it is in real life.
Mainly I move the tree to the right, and changed the direction of the water in the foreground. The first painting I did is in recent posts.

The study is 9×12″ and the final will probably be 18×24″.

Frost Fest Plein Air (Part 1)

I went to our Nature Park to do a little plein air watercolor painting. I wanted to steak out the locations for our Frost Fest Plein Air Outing this weekend. I will probably do an acrylic painting on Saturday. It will be nice this weekend too, but hopefully the snow won’t be all melted.

5″x8″ moleskin watercolor sketchbook.
