It was cloudy and still but what we see is just a starting point. Sometimes unexpected result come from Plein Air painting. This photo shows how I embellished the scene. Mainly I added a field beyond the horizon for more interest, more elements that are simplified in the foreground. I waited for a sky I wanted to paint, I normally do that first.

Thunderheads

With all the rain we’ve has lately, Thunderheads are on the rise. With this one I decided to try some oils again. I will do a bigger one in the future. 6×8” oil on Canvas

Grandma’s Aunt Sally Cookies

I’m sharing my family’s favorite Christmas cookie recipe in memory of my Grandma Dolly. She graciously made them for us every Christmas. We miss her and her cookies too. Only she was as sweet!

Cookie cutters that work. The dough is soft, therefore some cookie cutters don’t work, especially ones that have skinny areas like a reindeer. They need to be tall as well. The one in front is a traditional Aunt Sally shape. The dough can be cut into squares with a knife, as an alternative.
