Just before I moved, I painted a 6×6” canvas for the BAC Fundraiser.
I went to one last meet up with “The Basement Painters” at the BAC in the newly renovated building. They have a wonderful new workspace with great company.
Here’s where the 6×6 paintings hung. It’s a very successful event.

This a study for a commission. It is a panoramic view from the owner’s property. She is a friend from my childhood, and this was once her Grandparent’s land. We wish to preserve it’s memory.
This study is a 10″x16″ stretched canvas. I wish to learn from the practice of the study, and use it as inspiration for the final canvas that will be 30″x48″

This painting was satisfactory as it was, but it was needling me, from the wall it was hanging. I had to repaint the sky to give it more punch. I’m glad I did it! 7″x 14″

I painted the horizon and foreground. I could ordinarily get the whole painting done in one sitting but more often than not I only have a short window of time.
5×7″ canvas board.
Today I put the foreground in on this painting. Slopped on as much paint as I could!

“Rolling Up the Carpet” is the name I give for paintings of hay bails, although the sky is always of big interest to me in pictures of the plains. From our house we have a wide open view of the Southern sky. I’m especially watchful when thunderheads are developing.
