Working on Trees

In my new Cincinnati environment there are more trees. Therefore this winter I’m studying trees. Here is the first study, it’s from a local park. 9×12” Canvas Board

What I Did Last Summer Part 3

Just before I moved, I painted a 6×6” canvas for the BAC Fundraiser.

I went to one last meet up with “The Basement Painters” at the BAC in the newly renovated building. They have a wonderful new workspace with great company.

Here’s where the 6×6 paintings hung. It’s a very successful event.

What I Did Last Summer Part 2

I went an Artist Retreat at Pointer’s Ridge in late June. We painted in Plein Air along the Big Sioux River. 8×10” Acrylic on Canvas Board.

I did a portrait of an old Dutch Elm stump, and had some fun with it! 9×12” Acrylic on Canvas Board.

Here is the quaint little A-frame we stayed in.

Frost Fest Plein Air (Part 2)

Acrylic on canvas board 8″x10″
This weekend we had a Frost Festival in our town which included a Plein Air event. It was a bit gloomy but we still had snow on the ground.

My daughter and I painted with artists in our area, inside the club house at the Dakota Nature Park, where we had a nice view of frozen ponds and bridges to paint our pictures. It was a fun day for all of us! We got our paintings done before lunch and met everyone for BBQ.

Pink Peony

I approached this picture by loading the brush as much as I dare and with the least amount of strokes. Although I did go over the background again to get the textures.
I’m going to experiment with more like these.
