It was cloudy and still but what we see is just a starting point. Sometimes unexpected result come from Plein Air painting. This photo shows how I embellished the scene. Mainly I added a field beyond the horizon for more interest, more elements that are simplified in the foreground. I waited for a sky I wanted to paint, I normally do that first.

What I Did Last Summer Part 3

Just before I moved, I painted a 6×6” canvas for the BAC Fundraiser.

I went to one last meet up with “The Basement Painters” at the BAC in the newly renovated building. They have a wonderful new workspace with great company.

Here’s where the 6×6 paintings hung. It’s a very successful event.

I have primary sold my work locally. I’m officially starting to sell my work online at the Daily Paintworks, an Online Gallery, I especially like the artists who are represented there.

Blue Skies #1 (WIP 1)

I designed a sky that would complement the field with a group of trees that I plan to paint for this picture. I played with positive and negative space until I was satisfied with the composition.

Send in the Clouds (Final)

I painted the horizon and foreground. I could ordinarily get the whole painting done in one sitting but more often than not I only have a short window of time.

Applied some of that thick gooey paint to finish up my painting. Incorporated the use of a palette knife. I want to do that more often. 5×7″ Canvas Board
